Temporary Address (Dublin)
Temporary Address is a nomadic, off-site gallery and exhibition platform founded in Dublin. Established in 2020, its mission is to create new opportunities for emerging artists and cultural practitioners through the production of ambitious, self-initiated projects across Ireland, Europe, and online.
Proposal
Temporary Address presents new works by three Irish artists: Luke van Gelderen (1997, based between Berlin and Dublin), Lana May Fleming (1998, based in Dublin), and Frances Hennigan (1996, based in Cologne).
Each artist investigates how identity is constructed and performed in digital environments, examining the tensions between authentic self-representation, gender, and performative activism. Through sculpture, printmaking, and painting, the works employ appropriation, anthropomorphism, and the language of public relations to expose the pressures and contradictions individuals face as they construct their identities within the platform economy.
Luke van Gelderen (1997) is an artist and filmmaker based in Dublin. His practice spans film, sculpture, installation, and image-making, using appropriation and found materials to investigate contemporary forms of identity in digital environments. Drawing on personal experience, he creates immersive environments that intertwine themes of trauma, adolescence, authenticity, and performance, exploring how contemporary subjectivity is shaped within increasingly unstable social, technological, and environmental contexts.

Frances Hennigan (1996) is an Irish visual artist based in Essen, Germany. Her practice explores collective fantasies and the contemporary rituals through which people seek to transcend themselves, pursuing belonging, significance, and moral certainty through aesthetic forms. Drawing on celebrity culture, fandoms, internet subcultures, and the aesthetics of branding, public relations, and performative activism, she examines how gestures, fashion, emotional slogans, and shared narratives give rise to collective fantasies and forms of self-mythologisation. Her practice occupies the precise point at which codified aesthetics cease to represent belief and begin to produce it.

Lana May Fleming (1998) is a visual artist based in Dublin. Her multidisciplinary practice examines the societal pressures that drive individuals to alter their bodies, both physically and digitally. Working through video performance, she explores themes of identity, autonomy, and the impact of ever-evolving beauty standards. Combining satire with surreal imagery, her work blurs the boundaries between critique and participation, inviting audiences to reflect on the tension between individual agency and societal expectations.
