Swab Kids
Swab Kids is the program at Swab Barcelona dedicated to bringing contemporary art closer to children and families, creating a space for encounter, learning, and experimentation within the fair. Conceived as an open and participatory platform, the program invites participants to discover art through curiosity, play, and creativity, fostering new ways for younger audiences to engage with contemporary artistic practices.
For this edition, Swab Kids will be led by DUAE Collective, a Barcelona-based collective and collaborative platform whose practice connects contemporary artistic creation with education, participation, and knowledge exchange. Their multidisciplinary approach aims to create spaces for connection between art and society through participatory methodologies and collective creative processes.
The program will also receive the support of Fundació Vila Casas, bringing its commitment to education and the dissemination of contemporary art to this new edition of Swab Kids.
About DUAE Collective
DUAE Collective is a Barcelona-based artistic collective and collaborative platform founded in 2015 by Luna Coppola and Silvia Campidelli. Their multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections between contemporary art, technology, ecology and science, with a particular focus on the relationships between people, territory and the environment.Working across video, photography, drawing, mapping, sound, new technologies and installation, DUAE combines artistic research with participatory and collaborative methodologies. Their projects create spaces for exchange, experimentation and critical reflection, bringing together people from different backgrounds and disciplines. Since 2016, DUAE has been part of the residency programme at Fabra i Coats – Fàbrica de Creació in Barcelona, becoming an associated project in 2021. Their work has been presented through exhibitions, residencies and educational programmes in both national and international contexts.
About the SWAB Kids Workshop
For SWAB Kids, DUAE Collective proposes transforming the space into an open environment for experimentation, play and collective participation. The starting point is a simple question: What would a map of SWAB look like if it were created by everyone visiting the fair?Throughout the fair, visitors of all ages will be invited to imagine SWAB as an imaginary ecosystem and contribute to a large collective map. Using accessible materials, participants can create their own elements, place them on the map and connect them with the ideas and creations of others. There is no predetermined outcome—the ecosystem will continuously grow, change and develop through the contributions of the people who inhabit it.The activity is open to everyone and requires no previous artistic experience. Visitors can participate independently through a DIY activity or join dedicated family workshops led by DUAE. Through playful exploration and collective making, the project encourages participants to see the fair as a shared territory that can be imagined, transformed and built together.
