Proposal

For Swab 2026, Pionera presents Joaquín Carbajales’ latest photographic project, La muerte es color de rosas (“Death Is Rose-Colored”), which is a series of still lifes and floral portraits that explores grief and the different ways of confronting loss. Rather than approaching the subject from a solemn perspective, Carbajales embraces playfulness, experimenting with impossible scenes and unexpected compositions. Through humor, color, and carefully constructed arrangements, the series reflects on the process of rebuilding oneself through pain and finding new ways of inhabiting loss.
