Hulias
Hulias (Oslo)
Located in an underground vault in central Oslo, Hulias is an artist-run space that promotes spatially oriented contemporary art. Established in 2020 by four visual artists, Hulias is committed to provide an arena for emerging and established artists to convey their practice, and to be a space to experience contemporary art.
Proposal
Hulias proposes a two-person presentation featuring Kim Hankyul (b. 1990, KR) and Simen Utsigt Stenberg (b. 1992, NO). Although working through different media, both artists investigate the material conditions of technology, mediation and perception. Through sound, mechanical installations, sculpture and expanded photography, they reveal the physical processes and infrastructures that shape contemporary experience. By foregrounding technical devices, found materials and unstable mechanisms, the presentation creates a shared spatial environment where materiality, translation and transformation emerge as interconnected artistic strategies.
Kim Hankyul (b. 1990, Busan, South Korea) holds a BA in Aesthetics from Seoul National University and an MA in Art from The Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen. Recent presentations of his work include SOLO OSLO V at MUNCH, Oslo (2026), Salón Acme, Mexico City (2024), Pal Project, Paris (2024), Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo (2024), and Entrée, Bergen(2023).

Simen Utsigt Stenberg (b.1992) is an artist and writer working with sculpture, assemblage,
text and expanded photography through a research-driven practice. He graduated from Malmö Art Academy, where he earned his MFA in 2019. Previous solo
