Galleria Huuto

Galleria Huuto (Helsinki)

Galleria Huuto is an artist-run space dedicated to contemporary art. It is operated by the non-profit collective Mehiläispesä ry – Bikupa rf, which comprises 166 artist members. Artists who have exhibited at Galleria Huuto are eligible to apply for membership, with members encouraged to participate in the gallery’s diverse communal activities.

Galleria Huuto focuses on presenting professional, high-quality exhibitions at its current location. In addition to its exhibition programme, the gallery develops and supports artistic projects both across Finland and internationally.

Proposal

The booth is divided into two sections. The first recreates a gallery-like environment, conceived as a “small Huuto,” reflecting the spatial and communal character of Galleria Huuto. The walls feature Huuto tape and the word “Talkoot,” referring to the Finnish tradition of collective, voluntary work.

The second section presents Siiri Pohjolainen’s workshop and photographic practice. Throughout SWAB, Timo Tähkänen’s performance will remain active within the booth and the fair, introducing a live and evolving element to the presentation.
