The programme brings together commercial galleries and independent art spaces, creating an ecosystem that combines market activity, experimentation, dialogue, and research. This coexistence places all participants within the same relational framework and reinforces the fair’s commitment to fostering connections between diverse models of artistic production and exhibition.
The independent spaces present non-commercial practices rooted in research, community engagement, and experimentation. Artist collectives, curatorial spaces, foundations, and self-managed initiatives share the platform with commercial galleries, encouraging collaboration, exchange, and mutual learning.

This coexistence places all projects on a shared relational plane and reinforces the fair’s goal of promoting interconnection between diverse models of production and exhibition.

Polar & Tropic
The tropics are those imaginary lines over which the sun, positioned at the zenith, pauses after completing a cycle to take a new direction. Humanity seems to be going through a similar moment, a state of solstice, and those structures, organic and artificial, that sustained the dominant form of civilization, cease to be useful, while from the margins others have already begun to appear and organize themselves.
It is also a time of extreme polarity, a property that divides the human, constructing the identity of subjects by opposition, but it represents the most basic form of attraction: it is the opposite poles that generate movement and impulse, uniting particles and allowing the flow of current.
Observing these phenomena, Polar and Tropic proposes a meeting between spaces that come from opposite extremes, the Nordic region and Southeast Asia, where vast ecosystems are sustained by networks of collaboration and solidarity. After a period that prioritizes the autonomy of the self and projects the state of balance based on radical individual interest, the practices emerging from these projects propose a new model, expanding the space for art and exploring other ways to establish relationships, create networks, and build common spaces.

Vortex
Vortex unfolds from the Emerging Latam program, which over recent years has made visible emerging voices from Latin America at Swab. In this new phase, the project expands its reach towards a dialogue between young local projects and those from Latin America, intending to build new bridges between these two territories whose cultural landscapes have mutually shaped each other, sharing a back-and-forth of resonances, influences, and reinventions.
Curated by Lena Solà Nogué, a Catalan curator residing in Mexico who joins the project this year, Vortex proposes a shared occupation model: six spaces at the fair will be cohabited by twelve young galleries, six from each region.
This space becomes a meeting point for artists whose interests and lives circulate between here and Latin America, facilitating the creation of cultural networks that allow sharing of resources, issues, and strategies, contributing to strengthening concrete links between both scenes.

Swab Barcelona continues to strengthen its commitment to newly established spaces through the My First Art Fair (MyFAF) program, supported by the Swab Barcelona Foundation. An essential part of the fair’s identity, MyFAF is the section that brings together and promotes galleries that are less than two years old and are exhibiting at an international fair for the first time. In each edition, three spaces are awarded grants, offering them a unique opportunity to enter the circuit.
The main objective of the Swab Foundation, in launching these grants, is to discover and promote new talent, facilitating the entry of innovative projects into the dynamic sphere of international art fairs. This initiative reinforces Swab’s mission to serve as a melting pot of new ideas and trends while also highlighting its role as a launch platform for emerging artistic voices.
