ESCAT Gallery
ESCAT Gallery (Barcelona)
Escat Gallery is a contemporary art gallery based in Barcelona, founded and directed by Pau Escat. Its main exhibition space, located on Trafalgar Street, presents a program of exhibitions and projects featuring emerging and established artists from Europe, North America, and beyond, with a focus on contemporary practices that combine conceptual depth, material sensitivity, and distinctive visual languages. In L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Escat Projects expands the gallery’s program as a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to artistic production, research, experimentation, and cultural exchange. The space hosts exhibitions, moving image, performances, publications, site-specific projects, screenings, and interdisciplinary collaborations, connecting contemporary art with wider cultural and creative fields.
Proposal
Escat Gallery presents a duo exhibition project with Barcelona-based artists Vivian Alarcón (1995) and Alba Fabre (1994), whose practices establish a dialogue between sculpture and painting through a proposal defined by a reduced black-and-white palette. This chromatic approach allows the exhibition to emphasise essential aspects of both practices, such as form, texture, light, and gesture, creating a more direct reading of the works. Through different artistic languages, both artists explore notions of memory, identity, and contemporary experience, highlighting the connections between two emerging voices from Barcelona with a shared sensitivity.
Vivian Alarcón (Barcelona, Spain, 1995) is a visual artist specializing in glass sculpture and mixed media. Her body of work draws on her previous experience in the textile industry and drawing, disciplines that have shaped a visual language characterized by sensory and compositional precision, as well as a deep exploration of materiality. She began her exhibition career in 2019 with the presentation of her works at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Through glass and the incorporation of organic elements, Alarcón investigates the translation of subtle concepts—such as memory, consciousness, and energetic states—into three-dimensional forms. She currently focuses her practice on sculpture and installation as means of exploring mysticism and spiritual transformation from her studio in Barcelona.

Alba Fabre (Barcelona, 1994) trained for years in a rigorous academic setting in painting and drawing in Barcelona, where she also worked as a painting teacher.
Since 2020, she has ventured into contemporary murals, standing out for a strictly pictorial language, without references to graffiti or street art, rethinking the mural as a medium linked to the tradition of painting. Her practice develops between the public dimension of murals and the economic dependence on festivals and institutional commissions, which shape both her possibilities and limitations.
Internationally recognized for her representations of the human figure and organic forms, sometimes evoking an impressionist sensibility, Fabre has faced censorship and self-censorship. This has led her to explore easel painting as a space for expressive autonomy, free from institutional or administrative agendas.
