CasCaDas ArtSpace
CasCaDas ArtSpace (Barcelona)
CasCaDas (CCD) ArtSpace is an independent feminist platform that understands exhibition-making as a process of research, exchange and cohabitation. Situated in Barcelona’s El Raval, it operates through the neighbourhood’s own condition of permeability—where histories, cultures and practices overlap, and where the margins become sites of possibility rather than exclusion. Combining residency, studio, exhibition and public programme within a single environment, CasCaDas cultivates long-term conversations between artists, curators and communities, supporting practices that remain open, site-responsive and attentive to the social and material conditions from which they emerge.
Proposal
Porous Practices brings together Jimmy Paez, Jessica Angima, Agnieszka Bułacik and Pawal Matyszewski, alongside VSG, an artist-led international network. Their practices operate within Barcelona’s independent art ecosystem while extending across physical and virtual spaces. Connected to CasCaDas through international exchange, performance, off-site projects and collaboration, they reflect the porous networks through which artists, ideas and audiences connect, disperse and reconnect. Performance, urban research, sound, materiality and collective exchange converge within the project. Rather than functioning as a conventional gallery, CasCaDas acts as a point of exchange between artists, curators, places and communities, proposing a fluid and evolving constellation of practices for SWAB OFF SITE.
(b. 1997, Medellín, Colombia) Jimmy Paez is a Colombian-born artist and performer based in Barcelona. Grounded in an embodied approach. His practice moves across installation, relational and durational performance, exploring questions of belonging, identity, and impermanence. He holds a bachelor degree in Dramatic Arts from Universidad de Antioquia. His work has been presented and developed in collaboration with Fundació Caixa Castelló, Territori Performance Biennale, and the Contemporary Dance Company Grupo Experimental. He has developed his practice through workshops and residencies across Germany, the UK, Ireland, France, and Spain. Alongside his artistic practice, he works across cultural projects, exhibition, production, and public engagement, contributing to collaborative projects that connect personal experience, artistic research, education, and audience development.

As a socially engaged artist, Jessica Angima’s practice uses photography, writing, and communal gatherings to explore human relationships with environment and place. She is influenced by dharma, ecology, and the theory of fractals—the idea that small things can have significant effects. Angima’s projects help communities draw connections between themselves and their local environments. Through place-based and research-driven methodologies rooted in public engagement, her work moves between contemplation, publication, image-making, and the performative act of walking. She seeks to break down hierarchical, commodity-based forms of interaction and foster genuine relationships grounded in ecological wisdom.

Agnieszka Bułacik is an artist, researcher and facilitator working
with voice, sound, performance and collective practices. Trained
in visual arts, her practice has shifted towards sound as a way of exploring relationality, presence, memory and collective experience. She is particularly interested in voice and singing as forms of sensing, remembering and creating together, and in what artistic practices can offer in times of social and ecological crisis.
Her work draws on folk and ancestral vocal practices, deep
listening, and queer-feminist and decolonial thought, with a particular interest in Eastern European imaginaries and the relationships between humans, more-than-human worlds and places.
She creates participatory situations where listening, singing and
embodied attention become ways of exploring how we relate to
ourselves, one another and the wider living world.
Agnieszka is a co-founder of new visions, an arts and learning
collective supporting women and queer artists and activists
from Eastern Europe. She was a member of Otucha, a singing
collective exploring the social and ecological dimensions of song.
Her performance work includes Who Would Have Thought That
the Snow Falls, Treehumana, Wandering Voices, Murmuring
Through, Listening with the Land that Remembers. She holds a
BA in Photography and Multimedia from the University of Arts
in Poznań and an MA in Cultural Studies from Adam Mickiewicz
University. She is currently a PhD candidate in Arts & Education
at the University of Barcelona, where she researches collective artistic practices, relational learning and possibilities for reimagining interdependence.
