casa espacio
casa espacio (Barcelona)
Focused on contemporary art exhibitions, casa espacio was founded on April 8, 2023, by Violeto and Juan Pablo Piñero. The project emerged from an interest in generating new narratives and reflections through exhibitions and activities. It seeks to foster intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue in order to create an organic impact that encourages both individual and collective reflection.
casa espacio works closely with emerging artists, most of whom are based in Barcelona, as well as with collaborators from diverse backgrounds, contexts, and beliefs. It provides curatorial and artistic support within an inclusive and accessible space open to everyone.
Proposal
Through Annika Sunne’s most recent body of work, which evokes symbiotic ecosystems of care and vulnerability, we will complement the work presented by Gabelich Arte Contemporáneo. The proposal brings together a series of abstract landscapes created through welding on steel plates, a series of glass stars, and a self-portrait sculpture that reuses a piece of concrete debris.
Together, these works create a composition of transformative landscapes, in which relief and sculpture begin to play a role of connection and contrast in relation to the oil paintings on canvas.
Annika Sunne (Elle-Ella) is a transgender non-binary artist born in Mexico City in 1998.
Their practice, shaped by memory and emotion as creative forces, gives rise to sensitive landscapes in which the intimate is transformed into abstract, living, and mutating forms. Working with materials such as glass, moss, metal, and textiles, their pieces evoke symbiotic ecosystems of care and vulnerability.
They hold a degree in Fashion Design and are currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Advanced Art History Studies at the University of Barcelona.
Their artistic practice spans exhibitions and residencies between Mexico City and Barcelona. Their work has been presented in group exhibitions during Mexico City’s 2023 Art Week, as well as at the Museo de Arte Transfemenino, 200Cent, Casa Espacio, and Art Nou 2025.
Their solo exhibitions include Valerato (Rretiemble, Mexico City, 2024 & Sitio, Barcelona, 2025), Landscape I (Casa Espacio, 2025), and Landscape II (R.A.R.O., 2025), the latter developed during R.A.R.O.’s Summer Residency and Research Programme with a production grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
They founded SKAENDER (2020–2023) and have collaborated with Espíritu Club since 2023. Their work as a fashion designer and stylist has been featured in GQ Portugal, Vogue Portugal, L’Officiel México, PURPLE Magazine, and VEIN.
